A computer is not a luxury, but a vital necessity. This is not a subjective opinion, but the statement of the majority of the inhabitants of our Planet. Convenience of office equipment placement in the apartment will allow to carry out the tasks in a productive manner, and for the schoolchild or student to increase the level of knowledge. Buying a computer desk will affect the family budget, and self-production will save money for everyone who has the skills to work with locksmith tools and the desire to assemble a product with their own hands.
Varieties and design features of computer tables
The workplace for installing office equipment is made of various materials:
- thick glass;
- veneered chipboard;
- sheet plywood;
- natural wood;
- plastic;
- laminated particleboard.
The latter type of raw materials is very popular, relative to others, due to the low cost, the variety of colors and aesthetics of perception.
The versatility of the product is achieved due to the design features of the computer table. They are:
- rectangular shape;
- angular;
- arbitrary outlines of the work surface;
- with a place for the system unit or without it;
- with floor cabinets and pull-out shelves;
- with an add-in in the form of shelves for documents or a printer.

Preparing for table assembly
In the case of self-fabrication from frame parts, they first make a sketch of the product, which reflects all the design features due to certain requirements. Such a drawing will become the basis for the implementation of detailing, if you order a sawing of plates with facing in the carpentry workshop. The height of the product is made at the level of 70-75 cm, and the shelf for the keyboard is 63-68 cm. Then, the location of the workplace is determined and the necessary tool is prepared:
- measuring and marking devices;
- screwdriver;
- carpentry set.
ATTENTION! When choosing a place to install the table, consider the presence of electricity to the workspace! The use of extension cords around the perimeter of the room is impractical and can lead to periodic shutdown of equipment during operation!
Obtaining frames from particleboard is accompanied by an unpleasant odor - these are phenols harmful to humans, without which it is impossible to manufacture laminated boards.
ATTENTION! To eliminate the harmful odor, the end surfaces of the frames are coated with PVA glue in two layers! An adhesive film formed after drying will prevent the release of harmful substances!
When buying a serial product, it is unpacked, the package bundle is studied, then the product installation instructions. With an independent order or individual design, they are convinced of the accuracy of the dimensions made and the correct trimming of the parts.
How to assemble a computer desk
Having studied the instructions for the purchased model, fulfill the requirements of the manufacturer of the product. And with independent design and assembly, adhere to the following order:
- First of all, with the help of angular devices and clamps, the lower support modules are assembled. If they are equipped with drawers, then the slide is screwed to the inner surface of the boxes before assembly.
- After assembling the floor pedestals, a sliding keyboard shelf with a mouse is attached to the countertop.
- Then, holes are drilled in the longitudinal strips of the modules installed on the floor. If there are no such boxes or horizontal planes, then, in the upper part of the supports, the corners are screwed to fix the countertops.
- Floor curbstones are leveled horizontally using a long level, then the countertop is moved to its original place and secured with screws.
- Collect shelves designed to be installed on top of the work surface. Then install and fix.
- After that, drawers with rails are assembled and installed in regular places without facades.
- The assembly of the table is completed by hanging facades on the shelves that open.
ATTENTION! The fixing corners can be metal with open perforation for screws or closed plastic with a decorative case, but the frame of the fastener must remain iron, for the strength of the connection! If the fastening of the upper modules is inconvenient after fixing the countertops, then first fix the shelves, and then, together with the working surface, fasten to the lower pedestals!
After completing all work, install a monitor, system unit, additional equipment in the necessary places. Having connected office equipment to the network, they are happy to use a self-made computer table.
