Laying a carpet on a concrete floor

The carpet creates a warm atmosphere and a cozy atmosphere in the room, and also absorbs noise and retains heat. But so that its functionality is not violated for a long period, you should adhere to the features when laying. It is ideal, of course, to use a special substrate. If it is necessary to cut the carpet before bedding, then this should be done, starting from the central part, so that distortions do not turn out. The resulting joints should be optimally positioned perpendicular to the window so that they are less noticeable. In place of the threshold, special thresholds should be put. And after laying it is better not to walk on it for 1-2 days.

Preparatory work

First of all, it is necessary to carefully measure the area of the room where the carpet will be laid out. In this way, you can determine the necessary quantity for the purchase, so that there is no unpleasant surprise, if there are not enough 5-10 cm. It is advisable to purchase it in one piece.

Note! If the floor has an irregular shape, then the carpet should be bought for the maximum width and length of the floor. And it’s better to do this with some margin.

High-quality installation is possible only with careful preparation of the base. It is required that the floor surface be dry, clean and fairly even. It is necessary to carry out chlorine treatment so that a fungus does not form. Compared to laminate, carpet does not need a too smooth surface.

If there are small cavities on the concrete, then they should be removed using puttying.

Important! Protruding above the surface of the tubercle need to be shrunk, and then the surface of the concrete is primed, deep penetration. This is to ensure that dust does not form, because it can break through the base of the carpet.

If significant irregularities are present, then a bulk floor or some other self-leveling mixture is used.

What to glue on carpeting

Lay the carpet on the concrete floor at a room temperature of not less than +15 degrees. The coating should be laid out in the room a day before the installation work, to enable it to align and acclimatize.

To work, you need such tools:

  • construction or ordinary, well-ground knife;
  • tight roller;
  • screwdrivers for mounting skirting boards;
  • spatula for adhesive work.

To stick the coating to the concrete base, you need to purchase the appropriate glue for this. Polyurethane adhesive is commonly used. Also suitable for this purpose are reaction and universal adhesives.

Laying a carpet on a concrete floor: step by step

You can start laying the coating only after the surface is carefully prepared. It is not difficult to lay in small rooms and it will not take much effort. It is attached only with skirting boards located along the edge of the room.

First attached to one side, and then pulled and attached to the opposite side. Then the same thing is done with other ends. Additionally, you can fasten it with a double tape. On the floor, this tape is laid in stripes at a distance of 0.5 m in the form of cells.

First, the coating base constructed in this way is completely spread out, and then one of the ends is tilted. After that, the protective film on the adhesive tape is removed, and a carpet is glued to it, and then it is done with the other part. After that, with gentle movements, they are carried out along the entire surface with a roller.

For a more reliable bond use glue. This installation resembles a process using adhesive tape. Carpet flooring is done in such a way that it goes on the walls, about 5-6 cm. The excess part is cut off during the installation of skirting boards.

In some cases, the method of scratching is practiced. This method allows fixing the carpet to the base with wooden slats. They are placed at an angle of 45 degrees and clog nails. Since the carpet has elasticity, this method manages to obtain a uniformly stretched surface. But the use of this method requires skills in the work, so it is better to entrust the professionals with this business.
