How much does the bulk floor under the tile dry?

Quickly and efficiently level the rough screed will help the bulk floor. It is also used to create an interesting design, durable flooring. All the positive properties of the self-leveling floor can be appreciated only if all the nuances of the arrangement are observed, one of which is the drying time of the self-leveling mixture.

How much does the bulk floor under the tile dry?

Depending on the main components of the self-leveling mixture, the solidification process is determined by the following time periods:

  1. Polymer compositions harden from two to six days. The duration of the process depends on many criteria: layer thickness, the presence of pigments and synthetic ingredients.
  2. The composition on a cement basis completely hardens from seven to fourteen days.
  3. Gypsum-based mixtures harden quickly enough (it is necessary to wait only two days), but during this period the bulk floor has time to harden only for pedestrian loading. In order for furniture or equipment to be installed on the flooded surface, it is necessary to wait another ten days.
  4. Polyurethane bulk floors are attracted not only by their strength and durability, but also by their high drying speed. Fifteen hours later, it is possible to move around the bulk floor, and after three days to install static heavy objects (for example, furniture).
  5. Epoxy compounds, depending on the number of layers, freeze from two to five days.

What determines the drying time

The process of drying the flooring is influenced by several factors:

  • the total number of fill layers (the more layers of the bulk floor, the longer the process of complete drying will take);
  • the thickness of each layer (accordingly, the greater the thickness of the filled layer, the longer it will dry);
  • the composition of the mixture of self-leveling coatings (the most quick-drying mixtures are polymer);
  • type of the main finish coating (mortar under the tile freezes from day to three).

Attention! synthetic additives used to fill the self-leveling mixture. So by introducing special plasticizing additives, manufacturers speed up or slow down, the drying process, increase the strength and density of the finished coating.

Optimum drying conditions

You can get a high-quality coating of the bulk floor, observing certain conditions for its drying.

Basic conditions:

  • for the entire drying period of the coating in the room, a certain humidity is maintained (65%, and for polyurethane mixtures 85%);
  • when drying a self-leveling coating in the room, there should be no drafts and sudden changes in temperature (ignoring this condition leads to cracking of the surface);
  • pouring can be carried out only on a well-cleaned, primed surface without cracks and other defects;
  • the solution is poured in an even layer (differences increase the solidification period by several days);
  • for the entire time of drying, the coating is protected from direct sunlight (windows can be temporarily covered with dark paper or foil).

Important! The most favorable temperature regime for high-quality drying of the gypsum mixture is 45 ° C, cement mixture - 25 ° C, polyurethane composition - 15 ° C. Ignoring the conditions for maintaining the required temperature will lead to a suspension of the drying process and deformation of the poured coating.

Only following a certain sequence of pouring actions and providing optimal conditions for solidification can you get a high-quality, strong, durable filling under the tile.
