How to turn off the printer

A printer is a printing apparatus that handles the transfer of text or graphic information to a more convenient medium (in this case, paper). In order for it to start working, you must first turn it on, and this is easy to understand. Unplugging the printer from the outlet means an immediate stop of work, it can be used as an emergency cancellation of work. There are several ways to do this.

How to turn off the printer from a computer

If, for some reason, the self-printing apparatus cannot turn off, then in the system of the computer from which it is printed, it can be turned off, or simply prohibit the output of information on paper. Listing the required actions to complete this task:

• Open the Start menu. This can be done by clicking on the flag icon (in old versions - the corresponding inscription) in the lower left corner of the screen, or by pressing a button on the keyboard, also with the flag image.
• In the right part of the displayed window, you need to find the item that refers to the printing devices. "Devices and printers" will take you directly to the desired menu, there is also a way to get there through the "Control Panel", "Equipment and Sound", "View Devices".
• The system will display for the user a list of all additional devices that work in conjunction with the computer. The user has to find the icon of his printer, and right-click on it. A drop-down list will appear where you can select the function that is most suitable:
  • “Pause printing” - the machine temporarily stops performing the ordered output of images and texts to paper, but remains turned on. The "Resume" button will help to start this process again.
  • "Disconnect" or maybe "Delete" - this button will disconnect the printer from the system. Further activation is possible using the buttons of the device itself.

How to turn off the printer on the printer itself

The printer has its own keyboard. The buttons included in the unit are equipped with icons that allow you to understand what each of them is for. There are two ways to turn off the device:

• Just click the shutdown button. The printer will not finish work immediately, but after a while - it will have to prepare for the exit from the operating state in order to avoid errors in the future.
• Call the menu on a small window (usually it works all the time while the device is on) and find the "Disconnect" item. The selection will need to be confirmed.
