How to disassemble a laptop cooler

To extend the life of any electronic equipment, it is necessary to take care of it on time and correctly. The main reason for the failure of laptops is that they accumulate dust and dirt on their internal parts. This leads to the fact that the elements of the device begin to overheat and break, after some time. Therefore, it is extremely important to eliminate contamination from the internal elements of the device.

Why is it necessary to disassemble a laptop cooler

The laptop cooling system is necessary to protect the device from overheating during operation. It includes several components: fans, copper radiator, heat pipes. This complexity is explained by the fact that during operation the graphics adapter, processor and motherboard become quite hot. The cooling system prevents excessive heating of these elements.

The device is cooled by air circulation. The cooler or fan is responsible for this. He is involved not only in cooling the components of the computer, but also provides air ventilation in the case.

During operation, the cooler passes a large amount of air through itself. Along with it, dust and tiny particles of dirt get into the fan. Over time, dust builds up on the fan parts and increases their weight. This leads to the fact that the winding on the coil of the product heats up and burns.

Damage to the cooler leads to a malfunction of the entire laptop cooling system. As a result, the system board of the device overheats.

Attention! Never overheat the system board. This leads to failure of the laptop components and costly repairs!

In order to prevent problems in the operation of the device, the fan must be periodically thoroughly cleaned of accumulated dust and dirt.

How to disassemble a laptop cooler

Cleaning the fan is a fairly simple procedure. To do this, it is not necessary to give the laptop to a specialized workshop.

To clean the fan you will need to cook:

  • cotton buds;
  • screwdriver;
  • alcohol-containing substance;
  • a needle or scalpel;
  • silicone grease - it is necessary to lubricate the cooler after cleaning.

Before proceeding with direct cleaning of the fan, the cooler must be dismantled and disassembled.

The fan is disassembled in several stages:

  1. The laptop should be turned off beforehand. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the bolts that secure the back cover of the product. After that, you need to carefully disconnect all the cables. It is important to remember their location so that at the assembly stage there are no problems with the reverse connection.
  2. Unscrew the fan to be cleaned. It is necessary to disconnect all the wires going to the cooler from the power supply and only after that proceed with dismantling. From the central part of the removed fan you need to unstick the sticker. She should not be thrown out herself.
  3. Next, remove the rubber plug.
  4. Under the cap is a snap ring. It must be carefully removed. To do this, insert a sharp object into the slot on the ring and raise one side. It is not worthwhile to make a lot of effort, as the ring can easily be damaged.
  5. Under the ring are two plugs that secure the shaft and protect the mechanism from possible oil ingress. They also need to be dismantled.

Cooler Cleaning Procedure

After the cooler is completely dismantled and disassembled, you can proceed to cleaning and lubricating it.

For this you need:

  1. Pre-disassemble it into two parts. One of them will be with electric coils. Wipe it thoroughly or blow it out with a jet of air. The other half can be washed under running water.
  2. Use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to wipe both halves of the fan. Alcohol will remove all remaining contaminants and old grease.
  3. Lubricate internal parts with special silicone grease. It protects the product from moisture and overheating.
  4. Next, you need to assemble the cooler in the reverse order and install it in the laptop case.

Cleaning the device from dust and dirt is a very important and necessary procedure. With it, you can significantly increase the life of the laptop. It is recommended to perform it at least twice a year. At the same time, if the laptop is used in a dusty room, the frequency of cleaning should be increased.
